Ceramic band heaters are widely used for the barrels of plastic injection molding machines, extruders, tanks and in a broad range of other industrial applications. Ceramic band heaters can support up to 760°C(1400°F) and will remain low temperature on the outside. Consisting of stainless steel housing surrounding stacked ceramic tiles. A 6 mm thick ceramic fiber blanket of insulation is used to reduce power consumption by 25-30%, in comparison to band heaters without insulation. The ceramic fiber provides low thermal conductivity. That’s why the temperature of the external surface of the heater can be lower than the interior operational temperature.
Ceramic band heater distributes heat through conduction and radiation. Ceramic band heaters consists of a resistance coil made from nickel-chrome wire, heat the ceramic blocks to a temperature point at which they radiate energy into the barrel as well as conduct energy by being in contact with the barrel.
Ceramic band heaters are manufactured in a full range of standard construction options, dimensions, electrical ratings and complete variations of screw terminals and lead terminations.

This system was designed for high temperature heating and cooling extrusion processes. Forced air blowers are used for cooling. The ambient airflow enters the shroud, circulates around the ceramic heater and barrel, removes the heat from the heater and exits the shroud opposite the entrance port.
